Freak was tasked to create an engine to hold all the V&A Glastonbury archive on a virtual map of Glastonbury.
This online digital experience of Glastonbury Festival enables the public to explore the evolution and growth of the Festival across five decades.

BACKGROUND

The map, created by referencing the real topography of Worthy Farm and its surrounding area, is presented as a 3D experience. Double-click on the map and be transported down into the Festival site where you can move around and discover each distinct area from the Pyramid Stage and the Green fields, to the Park and beyond.

Each archive theme is categorised into colours with nodes strewn across the map that you can click on and read the many memories and stories that occurred there. The archive includes posters, programmes, interviews, film, photographs, correspondence, tickets and other memorabilia, as well as personal accounts, maps, press cuttings and documents that trace the origins, workings and evolution of the Festival.

We have been social content partners of Live Nation since 2015. Our campaigns have consistently delivered clicks, views and engagement, leading directly to ticket sales.

We receive on average around 30 individual campaign briefs every year, each with a simple objective – maximise engagement, enhance the profile of the brand and generate sales.

Founded in 1896, their purpose is to further the rights and labour conditions of workers, promote social justice and economic progress, especially to the most vulnerable and those in the developing world.

We have partnered with the ITF supporting campaigns across their global departments since 2017. As well as providing content and strategy that powers their social campaigns, we also supplied their full global media content for their global congress in 2018, and their forthcoming congress
in 2023.

Our support for the ITF extends across digital and social, as well as into application development and virtual reality platforms and content.

The Life Artois

We were challenged to create a motion capture augmented reality application to support a Stella Artois experiential campaign devised by JKR Global.

This brand experience for the global Stella Artois ‘The Life Artois’ campaign is a world first commercial implementation of cutting edge webapp technology. It uses the camera on a broad range of mobile, tablet, laptop or PC devices to animate a character on the user’s screen within their browser.

Accessed as simply and as quickly as visiting any day to day website, this one click quick delivery system for the experience greatly increases engagement as no download is required.

Once inside the experience the characters are customisable in real-time within the webapp, with over a million possible combinations the user explores the possibilities all within the stylised world of the brand.

The illustration can then be placed within a chosen setting and shared on social media with an additional competition option enabling a limited edition custom print to be delivered through the mail.

So, a true end to end experience, from digital to physical.

Soundwall is an interactive audio visual installation, designed for the children’s ward at Poole Hospital NHS in Dorset. It was created as a collaboration between music production company DOsounds and We Are Freak, the SoundWall serves as a way to help calm and entertain children as they await surgery or appointments at the hospital and also aids in getting them moving again post operation.

Hospitals across the UK are beginning to see the value of interactive technology in patient education and care, and we are very proud to have been able to use our skills to contribute to the NHS.

Our friends at Feelunique asked us to provide a full suite of multi-channel content to promote the centerpiece of their Winter Campaign and key gift of the holidays – The Little Beauty Parcel. This stunning December calendar contains 24 special gift boxes to open during December with each one containing a different beauty product. The campaign was a sold out success and for those lucky enough to receive a Little Beauty Parcel a special occasion.

Feel Unique

Bringing to Life

The talented writers and artists at Feelunique had created a beautiful papercraft story for their Winter Campaign. The Freak Creative team turned these starting points of script and character into a layered snowy world using a combination of 2D and 3D techniques all inspired by models made of paper with angular lines and clean subtle colours.

The main part of the collection was a 60 second papercraft animation that told the story of a little parcel reaching it’s owner. Realised in a combination of 2D and 3D and accompanied by a playful, adventurous original score, and a voice over featuring a BAFTA nominated British actress.

Game Play

Playing with things is fun and at Freak we are always looking for ways to make experiennces playful, rather than passive. As an add-on to the main visual campaign, the creative team at Feelunique were looking for a way to bring our winter wonderland to life in an interactive way. We created this little web app for them that provides a fun little challenge, giving the audience a way of delving deeper into the world of the Little Beauty Parcel.
