Submotion Orchestra make some of the most interesting and exciting music from the UK today: A kaleidoscope of electronic bass music, entrancing vocals, ambient, jazz and dub – their unique music is at once delicate and heavy, spacious and dense, highly atmospheric but firmly rooted.
Although usually earth-shattering in their scope as an 8-piece live band, we were lucky enough to catch up with them on the balcony of Freak HQ for a rare, intimate acoustic performance of their track ‘Swansong’, taken from their album ‘Alium’, released on celebrated UK label Counter Records, a subsidiary of celebrated British label and long-time Freak collaborators Ninja Tune.
