South Facing Festival

Another iconic collaboration

We’ve partnered with Live Nation brands since 2015, capturing unforgettable moments at the heart of UK music culture. We were back in south London for South Facing Festival - a month - long celebration of live music set against the stunning backdrop of the Crystal Palace Bowl. Our role was to bring the energy, emotion, and atmosphere of these iconic nights to life, on screen.

The bowl itself is an iconic London venue with a musical tradition stretching back for more than 150 years! For more than a decade it has lain dormant, but Freak were part of an ambitious project to bring live music back to one of its spiritual homes. With a lineup featuring Grace Jones, Future Islands, Jess Glynne, Damian Marley, Popcaan, The Roots, De La Soul and more, the South Facing Festival entrusted the Freak team to deliver live event media and promo content from one of their flagship events - amplifying the brand, and bringing the Bowl roaring back into public consciousness.

These types of live event productions are the foundation that Freak was built on - working with some of the world's most precious talent in some of the most exciting and cherished venues across the UK and beyond. We delivered live music coverage which was published across all digital channels - including artist sites and socials - and used to power national press and Live Nation promo content pre and post event.

From deep down in the pit to flying high above the crowd, at each event Freak team were on hand to document every part of the month long series - with the content being processed and edited in real-time from the backstage media centre and pushed out dynamically across the event days to create a buzz that reached far beyond the festival gates. Content went live hourly across the day - feeding artists’ social channels, fuelling Live Nation’s national campaign, and building momentum across digital, press and PR.

Our meticulous, real-time content delivery across eight all-day events proved highly effective. This dynamic approach, which included documenting every moment from the pit to aerial shots and pushing out hourly updates from our backstage media center, generated over 500,000 views for our video content and an impressive 24 million impressions. Furthermore, the compelling content we created was directly utilized by 10 national publications, significantly amplifying the festival's reach and impact.

"Freak have always understood our needs and delivered excellent creative solutions, normally a cut above any other creative suppliers. Would absolutely recommend them."
